About Lauren
Professional Background
Lauren Teruya is a content specialist at Hawaii News Now and Correspondent on the Emmy Award Winning lifestyle show, HI Now Daily. Prior to joining the team, she was a reporting fellow for Honolulu Civil Beat. Lauren grew up in Honolulu, attending Iolani School for 13 years. She graduated with honors in 2021 from the University of Southern California with her bachelor’s degree in journalism and theatre and master’s degree in specialized journalism. During her final year in college, she interned with the legal team at BuzzFeed News, investigating the damage and theft that occurred during the insurrection at the Capitol. Other publications she’s written for include L.A. Taco, Jackson Hole News & Guide and Dishing Magazine. When she’s not working, Lauren is most likely exploring the outdoors or rehearsing for a show at Diamond Head Theatre.
Miss Hawaii 2022, Lauren Teruya
Lauren captured the title in May of 2022 and represented Hawaii at Miss America, placing in the Top 10. She dedicated her year of service to her Initiative, Arts For All.
Correspondent on HI Now Daily
Lauren joined the team in 2023 when HI Now Daily launched as a live show on KGMB and K5 every weekday at 3 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 a.m.
